MONOTONE
Let my song be monotone
till you come along
Love takes luck to stumble upon
I’m sick of the stars
Let’s wish with a bone

HELLS HOME
What is it that you’re thinking on?
Where is it your thoughts sprung from…
The womb?
Copperhead in the pleasure dome
Watch it writhe and bury on
in the sun
Swallow the poison
it’s like I’ve turned to stone
What is there left to find in me
the ticking of the clock can’t reap or sow?
No music could make you more alone
and make the silence moan
But are you ever gonna get back to the ways you’ve known?
Do you remember what it was to be home?
Our way is unwritten
but I feel the push and pull of all the stars
Oh stars, so faint
oh stars, don’t break
Wherever you are
Don’t fade, show us the way

SADDEST SUNSET
Saffron and rust
Won’t be long and it’ll all be black
Amber and plum
Pretty soon and it’ll all be black

LITTLE PRINCE
Little Prince we don’t exist
Built your kingdom from tears and piss
You blinded minds
Tied arms by their sides
Work a baby for a brick
Walk on A Sargasso Sea of sick
We’ve lost our guide
Hold me I’m by your side
by your side
Burning on the fire
Little prince so smooth and slick
Hold a neck doesn’t mean you twist
You’re out of time
But so thank god am I
With no good side
No good side

UNWELLSPRING
Listen how hard
The four winds can blow
Like a deadfall trap
Fell on my soul
A swan with no song,
steel or nylon
No animals to pat
And fair weather took all of my friends
Sleeping sound
wound round and round
I like the storm
when it’s pouring in
Don’t worry about the sun
If it’s not there at dawn
I wouldn’t look so sad
when you find that flaming wind
Coming in
Don’t sweat it
See we’ll all be wet
by the unwellspring

CLOUD COVER
Go lie down and
get pushing up the clover
over what we’re doing
Get gripped and smothered
under thick cloud cover
No dusk, no dawn
If the mist will lift I’ll look myself over
Find what holds up the clothes
I guess the sky’s twilit cause inside
my eyes groan and grope
for lines on the skin
that run deepening and slow
Come on a wind
And it’ll cut the cloud cover
Come thin out the fog
And the iris find a light
just a scuffed pearl brightened before
the long night falls
And takes the sun away
Fading sun, go and sail
right through the offing grey
Make your final play for warmth
Bear us a form from your kiln and clay
One that won’t break

Take Mine

TAKE MINE
You are still my closest friend
take me in your arms again
The wheel of time
brought us blind
to the same line
where do we sign?
The same wild winds make us bend
And prune in precipitation
So throw your kite
make sure and try
not just to fly
but to go high
If your luck has all been spent
you’re washed ashore on some beach feeling dead
Cast your line
Get your fire burning bright
if you need a light
Take mine
Take mine
Take mine

OPEN
Should it all come back again
Bury every diadem
Let the veil fade white and unpin
And lift my eyes up by the chin
I’ll ache to bone to meet my twin
Confess it all like woodwinds
Forget my head so harrowed
And shed light on shadow over and on
Run a wheel over the green, run a wheel over the sea
But should it all come back again?
